Leighton Jones, Campden BRI

Leighton Jones is Head of Corporate Communications at Campden BRI. The department plays a central role in communicating the science and technology at Campden BRI with its members. It develops and maintains the Campden BRI website, designs and produces all Campden BRI’s promotional materials and publications, oversees Campden BRI's publishing activities, and co-ordinates the activities of Campden BRI’s Technical Advisory Panels. He runs courses on technical writing skills, has written numerous papers and several short books, has been involved in various initiatives to promote food science and technology within schools, and contributed to the editorial board of biology and food science journals.

A plant biologist by training he spent 6 years in academic research into plant, cell and molecular biology before joining Campden BRI in 1989 to develop rapid diagnostic tests for food analysis. In 1996 he was appointed as CCFRA’s Publications Manager to develop Campden BRI’s publishing activities, and in 2006 to his current position. He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Biology and an Associate Member of the Association of British Science Writers.
