Steve Garrett, Campden BRI

Steve joined Campden BRI's Chemistry & Biochemistry Department from the Institute of Food Research in 1998. He now manages the Molecular Biology Group which provides consultancy, training, research and contract services in food authenticity using molecular methods.

He has acquired and manages Food Standards Agency and RA funded projects looking at the use of new lab–on–a–chip and real–time DNA technologies for the detection and quantification of meat, fish and plant species in food.

In 2005, he was awarded the Campden BRI Heinz Travel Scholarship for his innovative work in this area.

Steve is also an advisory committee member for the GeMMA proficiency testing scheme and a participant in the UK's GMO Analytical Network (GAN).
