Safe packing of food and drink in glass containers CCFRA Guideline No. 18 (1998) |
Adopt good manufacturing practice to assure safe packing of food and drink in glass containers. In assuring the safety of food and drink products packed in glass, the compatibility of the product, process, container and closure is crucial. With wider use of glass containers - especially for in-pack processing of ever-more sophisticated products - there is now a need for clear guidance on good manufacturing practice for food and drink products in glass packaging. With a strong practical stance, the guide illustrates the principles of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) as the most widely accepted, structured approach to assuring product safety. It also extensively cross-references relevant legislation, technical information and a range of information sources. The contents include:
"The production of this document has been a remarkable exercise in co-operation between producers of the packaging materials, food processors and retailers. They have been able to share experiences to produce an extremely comprehensive review of the subject which will be of great value to anyone producing a food product packed in glass". Paul Gaywood, Baxters of Speyside Limited Chairman of CCFRA Glass Working Group. |
