Scientific and Technical Committee
The Scientific and Technical Committee (STC) steers the Research Association’s scientific and technical activities at a strategic level. It also oversees the panel system, ensuring that fourteen Technical Advisory Panels meet the needs of members. It’s main terms of reference are:-
- Development of a scientific and technical strategy
- Effective use of member-subscription funded research
- Identification of emerging issues
- Determining the remit and monitoring performance of Technical Advisory Panels
It is supported in this role by the Panel Activities Working Group (PAWG), which comprises the Chairs of the fourteen Panels and senior CCFRA staff, and which reports to STC. The terms of reference for PAWG include:-
- Contribute to the development of the scientific and technical strategy , establishing emerging issues relevant to each panel
- Agree allocation of projects for MSFR-funded research to appropriate strategic themes for voting
- Review terms of reference of Technical Advisory Panels and Working Groups
- Share best practice in managing the operation and effectiveness of Technical Advisory Panels
