Introduction to Research Summary Sheets

The CCFRA research and development programme directly benefits industry by developing skills and knowledge necessary to resolve current and future issues and demonstrating how new science can be converted to technology which can be transferred to provide members with a competitive edge. Essential to this is the effective communication of the results from our research to the food and drink industry. A number of mechanisms are used: this report is a compilation of summaries for each project ongoing in 2003. These are intended to enable the reader to rapidly identify particular topics of interest on which to seek further details. They do not replace full research reports and further information on these can be obtained from the Publications Officer.

The major part of the research programme is that funded by membership subscriptions. These are the projects that have been selected by the members of CCFRA in an annual voting process. In addition, projects are funded, wholly or in part, by UK Government, the European Union and levy boards. The RA gratefully acknowledges those organisations who have contributed to or funded the work contained in this compilation.
