REGISTRATION

Q. How will I know if my application has been successful?

Once all the registration forms for your country have been sent to the contractor (Campden BRI), the National Contact Point will receive a list of the participants who have been accepted and a list of those who are on the reserve list.

Your National Contact Point should inform you initially if you have been allocated a place or if you have been put on the reserve list.

A formal acknowledgement will be sent to the successful applicants on a workshop by workshop basis so you should receive some information from Campden BRI about 6 weeks prior to the workshop commencing. This acknowledgement confirms your full name and departure airport that are used to book your flight tickets. It gives you the opportunity to make any corrections to the spelling of your name and to advise Campden BRI that you are still available to attend.

Your flight tickets and joining instructions will be sent within 2 - 3 weeks of the acknowledgement.

TRAVEL

Q. How are the flight tickets booked?

Providing you have specified your preferred departure airport on the registration form, the flights are booked by Campden BRI and an electronic ticket is sent via e-mail to the participant.

Q. Can I choose my own flight?

Your flights are selected and booked by Campden BRI, in consultation with the travel agent ATP International. The flights are booked based on a number of criteria, route, timings and cost. We aim to book the best possible flight available, according to these criteria and the specifications of the contract, on your behalf.

Q. Can I have a direct flight?

It is not always possible to book direct flights. The routes and times of travel may result in one or more connection on some routes. Where possible we will always book a direct flight. Sometimes the connections are quite long but we do avoid this when possible.

Q. What happens if I miss my connection?

Flight delays have not caused many problems for participants in the past. If the connecting flight is with the same airline and you miss the connection due to a delay, the airline will be responsible to ensure you reach the destination. If the connecting flight is with a different airline, we will try to leave enough time between flights to allow for any delays.

If you do miss your connection and are told that you must pay for an additional flight, you will be fully reimbursed for this.

Q. Can I extend my stay?

The flights are booked to meet the requirements of the workshop timetable and programme. You will arrive in the host country on the Sunday prior to the workshop commencing on Monday morning. Your return flight will be booked as soon as convenient after the workshop completes, so you may travel home on Friday afternoon or on Saturday morning, depending on availability of flights.

All your accommodation costs, for the Sunday you arrive and including the Friday night if your return flight is not until Saturday, are covered by the programme. If you do wish to extend your stay you may change the flights that we book for you, but you must be responsible for the arrangement and any costs incurred in doing so.

Q. Will I need a Visa?

You must ensure that you obtain all the necessary visa's that are required to travel. This includes transit visas. You can get visa information from your local government website or from www.learn4good.com/visa.htm.

The visa application process can take a minimum of 3 weeks so please make sure you leave plenty of time to apply for your visa, and that you have all the correct documentation before your appointment. If you require any additional documentation from Campden BRI, please send an e-mail with the details of what you require to a.brown@campden.co.uk.

Q. What if I want to go by the train?

If you wish to travel by train, please book your own train tickets. Depending on the length of your journey, you may arrive on the Sunday before the workshop starts or before 09.15 am on the Monday morning. Please advise Campden BRI of your intended arrival date so that the accommodation can be booked for you.

If you choose to arrive on Sunday, your accommodation for Sunday night will be covered by the workshop. It is also helpful to know how much your train journey will cost. If you can let Campden BRI know the cost of your journey, and remember to take a receipt or the ticket with you to the workshop, the tutors will refund your travelling expenses during the week.

Q. What if I want to drive?

If you want to drive to the workshop you may do so. Depending on the length of your journey, you may arrive on the Sunday before the workshop starts or before 09.15 am on the Monday morning. Please advise Campden BRI of your intended arrival date so that the accommodation can be booked for you. If you choose to arrive on Sunday, you accommodation for Sunday night will be covered by the workshop. With regards to expenses, the workshop covers the cost of the equivalent train journey. If you calculate how much your equivalent train journey will be, take evidence of this to the workshop with you (for example, a print out from the internet), the tutors will refund this amount. Please let Campden BRI know roughly how much this will be prior to the workshop.

Please note that the workshop does not cover the cost of car parking. When possible, we will ask the hotel to waiver any car park charges if you choose to drive, although we cannot guarantee this.

WORKSHOP

Q. What happens when I arrive at the destination airport?

You will be sent a set of joining instructions with your flight ticket to instruct you on how to reach the hotel / training venue from the airport. Each city varies but there are always good public transport links between the airport and venue that are clear and easy to follow. If you are arriving at the destination airport late at night, or if you are not confident to use the public transport system, you may take a taxi to the hotel / training venue from the airport.

Whichever method you use to travel to the venue, please remember to obtain a receipt for your journey and present this to the tutors during the workshop. You will be fully reimbursed for the airport to hotel / training venue transfer.

Q. When does the workshop start and finish?

You will be sent a full timetable as part of the e-mail detailing your joining instructions and flight ticket. The workshop starts with registration at 9.15 am on Monday and completes at lunch time on Friday. Time keeping is very important as there is a lot of work to get through during the week! Please don't be late for the sessions.

Q. Where is the factory visit to?

The factory visit will vary by workshop and country. The type of premises that we have visited in the past includes bakeries, wine bottling operations, contract catering kitchens and pasta manufacturers. We do not necessarily visit meat / fish / dairy processing plants.

Q. What protective clothing will I need to bring?

You will only be required to bring some sensible enclosed footwear / safety shoes. Coats and hats are always provided by the factory.

Q. What if I am unable to attend the workshop?

If you are unable to attend please let us and your National Contact Point know as soon as possible. If you are unable to attend and fail to inform us, it will prevent us from offering your place to another reserve candidate; additionally it prevents us from recovering the charges incurred for your flights and accommodation.

One or more non - attendances on individual workshops has a major impact on the total attendance figures for the programme and affects the balance of participating countries. It also impacts on the group dynamics of the affected workshop.

Please bear in mind that failing to inform us in advance may jeopardise individual inclusion in this and other EAHC training programmes in the future. In addition it may affect the possibility of other participants from your country attending EAHC training programmes
