Although often viewed as a single product area, the differences between tea and coffee and, say, beer is as great as between wheat and fruit.
We have expertise in the chemistry of different drinks (such as tea, fruit juices, wine and beers) and associated nutrition issues, as well as in their microbiology and their production and processing, for which our pilot plant facilities are extensively used. Problems with frothing and splashing during filling are currently being investigated.
In our Brewing Division we have the leading centre of excellence in beer and wine in the UK. As well as technical advice, we offer a range of training courses on beer and wine production - from the highly technical and advanced to the non-technical 'beer tasting and appreciation'.
