Pesticide taint testing

pesticide taint testing

Pesticide taint testing is not just a case of waiting until someone complains about an off-flavour or odour and then investigating the cause - it is very much part of a preventative regime when registering new crop protection products, and is essential to ensure that processors and retailers have confidence that the foodstuffs they produce and sell will not be susceptible to taint problems.

At Campden BRI, we can provide a comprehensive pesticide taint testing service including:

  • Advice on legal requirements
  • Production of crop samples – growing field trials specifically for the production of taint samples minimises the problems often associated with the use of samples that are not of suitable quality for processing for human consumption. Problems relating to the deterioration or contamination of samples during transit are also minimised.
  • Processing of the samples using pilot plant facilities for a wide range of commercial preservation techniques
  • Detailed sensory taint test assessment – undertaken by a trained panel of assessors in our own state–of–the–art facilities

And, of course, if a taint problem does arise unexpectedly we can help you find out where the underlying problem might be.
