Method development and evaluation
Because of our long association with food analysis, Campden BRI is ideally placed to be involved in method development and testing, and participates in a variety of inter-laboratory trials, such as that for identification of physical contaminants (the foreign bodies identification scheme) and for brewing analytes (the Brewing Analytes Proficiency Scheme).
Development of a robust method for the analysis of Sudan and related illegal dyes here at Campden meant that the industry had a reliable means for assessing the extent of the problem. We also have a long history of developing both microbiological methods and sensory analysis techniques, and in evaluating and developing methods for wheat and flour.
