Food raw material advice

A comprehensive and authoritative advisory service on food safety issues and product quality problems of food raw materials including fresh produce (raw and prepared), durable crop products and animal products.

  • Pesticide use and residues (including electronic MRL alerts)

    - Suitability for fresh and processing markets
    - Contaminants of agricultural origin

Projects managed include practical field trials and post harvest evaluation of product quality. This is supported with detailed investigations into the control of hazards from pesticide residues and microbiological contamination of food raw materials, as well as quality system development and review. An important aspect is the ability to connect with other CCFRA staff and facilities to provide advice and solutions related to raw materials, for example: storage, packaging, processing, discoloration, colour, flavour, texture, permitted processes and additives.
