The agriculture team at CCFRA has horticulture and agriculture expertise and is able to provide support on a wide range of production and primary product quality issues.

Assessments of crop production practices

Tests include in-house trials and evaluation of samples from other sources to meet product safety and quality criteria, which can be linked to processing (food manufacturing) and product evaluation (shelf life, product quality and chemical and sensory analysis).

Pesticides

  • Efficacy testing, including taint studies (ORETO certification)
  • Residue studies (GLP compliance)

Crop variety

  • Agronomic performance and suitability for fresh and processing markets

Crop production

  • Good agricultural and hygiene practices (GAP and GHP)
  • Agronomic inputs e.g. manure, treated waste, fertiliser and irrigation water
