Benefits of attending

The more you know about beer, the better you will be at marketing, selecting and understanding your product. This non-technical course is ideal for those who may be expected to give advice on the selection, service and responsible consumption of beer.

Course content

This non technical course is interactive and attendees will taste raw materials and beers as the following topics are discussed:

  • Principles of tasting
  • How is beer made?
  • Malt – what is it, and how does it add to beer flavour?
  • Hops – adding aroma and flavour to beer
  • Yeast – flavours and aromas from fermentation
  • Beer styles and speciality beers
  • Beer and food matching
  • The label: units and calories

The course finishes with a short exam leading to a certificate of completion.

This course is also available customised and in-house for companies who have groups that may wish to attend.
