Seminar overview and contact details
Food additive legislation seminar, 25 March 2010
Campden BRI, Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire, GL55 6LD, UK
Overview
Additives legislation is changing - new controls are being
introduced with varying transition periods over the next
few years. Businesses producing and/or using additives
need to be thinking now about how these new controls
will impact on their operations.
A simplified and common approval system for food
additives, flavourings and enzymes, based on the scientific
opinions from EFSA, is being introduced, along with new
harmonised EU-wide rules on food enzymes, replacing
previously divergent national legislation. There are clearer
rules on maximum levels of undesirable substances in
flavourings and stricter conditions are also being introduced
for the use of the term 'Natural'. And, of course, there are
the developments with the labelling of the so-called
'Southampton' colours.
The seminar will include overview of the new controls
from Glynis Griffiths and James Ridsdale of the Food
Standards Agency.
It is aimed at those in the food industry who deal with
product development, technical management and quality
assurance, as well as those involved in the manufacture of
food additives, and in regulatory affairs and enforcement.
