GlobalGap: understanding the requirements

GlobalGAP serves as a practical manual for Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) anywhere in the world. GlobalGAP is a single integrated standard with modular applications for different product groups, including crops, livestock and aquaculture. The standard also serves as a global reference for other existing standards and can directly be applied by all parties in the primary production food sector.

GlobalGAP is a private voluntary standard designed to cover the assurance requirements for the production of primary agricultural products based on accepted good practice, including food safety considerations and environmental and social welfare issues.

This course focuses on the evaluation procedures and requirements detailed in GlobalGAP with special reference to crop products. The emphasis is on providing an understanding of the evaluation procedures and on interpreting the technical requirements. The course will benefit:

  • those responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating operations and systems that aim to meet the requirements of GlobalGAP, and
  • those wishing to obtain a better understand of global GAP.

  • The structure of GlobalGAP and GlobalGAP standards
    – All Farm Base scope
    – Crops Base scope
    – Crops Sub-scopes †
  • Interpretation of control points and compliance criteria †
  • Case studies

† The sub-scopes covered will be tailored to meet delegate's specific interests, e.g. Fruit and Vegetables, Combinable Crops, Coffee (Green), Tea, Flowers and Ornamentals
