Why attend:
Temperature measurement is an area that is often overlooked. Just because an instrument has the correct ‘calibrated‘ sticker on it doesn‘t mean that the results will be accurate in all situations.
This course aims to teach the delegate more about temperature measurement, some of the problems and some of the solutions.
It will give examples of how to select the right thermometer, undertake temperature distribution studies, assess the reliability of measurements and most importantly, what auditors will be looking for. The course is aimed at laboratory supervisors and calibration officers but is applicable to any person who needs to measure and calibrate temperature indicating instruments.
Course content:
- What is temperature – the basis of the scale
- How can we measure temperature and selection of the right instrument for our measurement?
- Temperature distribution – for incubators and autoclaves, how to check it, and evaluate the results
- How often do I need to recalibrate my instruments?
- Calibration certificates – what do all the words mean?
- Uncertainty – what is it, and how does it affect my results?
- Calculation of uncertainty for in-house calibration checks
- What does an auditor look for?
- Workshop: methods of in-house calibration
"Temperature measurement is a vital area for managers of laboratories to ensure the validity of results and compliance with auditor requirements. This course aims to teach more about temperature measurement in a laboratory environment
