- Objectives, scope and terminology of the Standard
- Environmental aspects and their impacts identification and evaluation
- Assessment of the "significance" of aspects and the recognition of environmental "risk"
- Identification of legal obligations and achieving compliance
- The importance of management commitment and how to encourage it
- Operational control strategies versus improvement planning and management
- Pollution prevention and continuous improvement developing the team/communication
