Nutritional quality of produce
18 September 2008
The nutritional quality of produce is increasingly important in light of
such campaigns as "five-a-day" and "fruits for schools". Fruits and vegetables are becoming increasingly synonymous with better health and certain compounds associated with
fruits and vegetables not only aid health, but can play a role in
combating disease. This event presents the current evidence on this topic and highlights future research areas.
This conference will be of interest to growers and retailers and to those
delegates involved in the procurement of fruits and vegetables. Those from a non-technical background will also find it a useful insight into this important subject.

Workshops
Managing food chain security effectively
16 September 2008
This workshop covers the requirements for an effective security
programme, and shows how security can be managed efficiently by
even the smallest company. The use of principles and procedures
for ensuring food quality and personal safety enables directors and
senior managers to operate a security programme more easily.
Smaller companies often cannot justify the employment of a full
time security manager.
The extension of HACCP and Health & Safety responsibilities will
often enable these companies to develop security programmes that
suit them, and to retain control of, and to manage these programmes
effectively.
