Analytical Services and Central Preparation Unit - Microbiology Department

Microbiology Analytical Services Group is a section within the Microbiology Department that performs examination of a range of food products and food related samples. The Group has 12 employees who work either individually or as part of the team on large projects.

The testing involves sample preparation before doing specific techniques used to detect and/or count pathogenic (food poisoning) bacteria and organisms that would cause spoilage of food products.

The laboratory is UKAS accredited and has 26 methods in its scope.
